Save Time with Multiple Printer Configurations

In Windows, if you have various configurations that you like to print from on the same printer (i.e. Duplex, single-sided, booklet, etc.) you can "Add" a printer for each configuration, then in the Advanced tab of the Printer Properties (properties viewed in the Printers and Faxes control panel) you can set the Printing defaults that will be saved to that printer.

Name the printers with a descriptive name like laser_duplex, laser_single, laser_booklet. No more fumbling around tweaking the setting each time you want to print with your favorite printer configurations, just pick the named printer and that printer's default configuration will be applied.

Additional Comments:

The tip above also works well with inkjet printers. I have one printer setup to print with photo quality settings on 4x6 paper for all my pictures and another setup to print on regular 8.5 x 11 paper. You can also setup a separate configuration to print only in black and white or low quality to do test printing and save on ink.
