Open House is a Success!
Thanks for coming to our open house on Thursday June 25.

It was a warm afternoon and evening, but inside the new offices at EZSolution, it was especially warm with the greeting of old friends meeting and new friends being made. Our new location gives space to grow and space to serve you our existing customers better.

The open house required a lot of hard work by the entire EZ Team, but special mention needs to go to Sue Worthing, our Happiness Coordinator as well as Marie and Fred.

Add a WOW Effect to your website - Use Video Testimonials

For the last 12 years I have recommended that our clients add testimonials to their website.

Why?

Testimonials add credibility to your business. If you see a website with 20 plus testimonials, you get a sense of what the business does well.

The pessimist says, "Oh well you could have just made those up. How do I know that is even a real person? And besides who would put up a bad testimonial."

Here is my answer to help these skeptics feel more connected to your testimonials.

Make them VIDEO TESTIMONIALS!

So now you're saying to yourself... It was hard enough to get a written testimonial, how on earth am I going to get a video testimonial? I can't afford to pay a video company to get these and how will I get my clients to do this?

When you put it that way it looks like a big project. Yuk!

Here's the good news. Why make it hard? Let's do it the EZWay...

Here's how we make this EZ for you.

  • Step 1. Buy a Flip Video Camera. This is smaller than my blackberry.

  • Step 2. Carry it with you everywhere you go.

  • Step 3. When you see a client in your office, their office or anywhere (I have done these in restaurants) ask them if they would mind giving you a video testimonial.

    Here's how you do it. Tell them you are working on some new creative marketing for your business. In this tough economy you need to stay on top of your game. One of your new ideas is to get video testimonials from your favorite clients. (Now they feel flattered). Simply say, "Would you help me out by giving me a video testimonial?"

    They'll say yes, for 2 reasons...
    1. They want to help you out.
    2. They think you will schedule a time to do this. (wrong)

    You say - GREAT! You pull out your camera (they will be intrigued with the camera).

    Now they get nervous. They start to worry that they don't look good today. It's a bad hair day, they want to lose 10 pounds, and they don't like what they are wearing... you get the idea. Or they say "I'm not sure what to say."

    Tell them all they need to do is say their name, the name of their business (if that is important to you) and what they like best about your company or why they use and recommend you. If they hesitate again... pull out the help me out sales line.

    That's it. You want them to talk for 20-30 seconds.

    Tip: The trick is that you want these videos to look 'real' not staged or professional. It's ok if they say um, if a phone rings in the background or if you hear someone else talking. It can NOT appear that they are reading a script. If you follow my format you are not letting them read. These are impromptu and natural videos.

  • Step 4. Getting the video from the camera to your computer. This is really easy. The camera has a built in USB drive. Plug it into your computer and copy the file over. Then email the file to us. We will take care of the rest!

Getting to Know... Jeff Weaver
Jeff Weaver is the General Manger of Technical Services here at EZSolution. He has been here for three years. Prior to that Jeff ran his own technical services company in Southern Lancaster County for 15 years.

In that space of time Jeff has seen technology advance from the earliest versions of Windows to Windows 7 coming this October 22. He has also seen technology become more and more a part of our daily lives. That is the part of technology that gives him some pause, "we are so focused on technology we sometimes forget to live, enjoy our children, friends, or be involved."

Jeff is married to what he describes as a "wonderful woman", has four children and lives in the Millersville area. He is an avid camper and looks forward to a week of camping at the beach each summer. He is very involved in his church and especially church softball.

Jeff has volunteered in the community for many projects, and has spent 20 years as a volunteer fireman.

What Jeff likes most about technology is when he can do things to make people's lives easier and free them up to do more things rather than work. He also admits to a little of the "geek factor" as well. He enjoys the fast pace and the constant change that is a large part of the industry. His frustration is with people who get consumed with technology and miss life in the process, "technology should be our servant not our master."

His most satisfying moments in technology have been those "ah-ha" moments, "when the light turns on in a customer's eyes and they see the possibility that technology can help them".

Jeff is secure in his belief that life will work out and that if he can use his knowledge of technology to help someone live better or work better, he is happy.

Top 5 Reasons To Be Thankful For Technology
When you're making a list of things to be thankful for, computers and technology usually don't make the list; as a matter of fact, they often get put on the "hate" list of things that frustrate us!

However, I think it's time someone gave credit where credit is due! Here are the top 5 reasons why we should be thankful for all the new (and constantly evolving) technology we have available to us:

  1. It allows us all to be more "earth-friendly." Thanks to e-mail and the Internet, as well as the ease in document imaging, we can all communicate with each other without having to waste paper and ink, not to mention stamps!

  2. We can instantly access information on practically any topic we want, whenever we want. I remember when I was a kid, all research required a trip to the library and old-fashioned research with a set of encyclopedias. Now, if you need to find a Mexican restaurant within 1 mile of your location, you can not only find one, but you can check out the menu and order online so your food is waiting for you when you show up!

  3. It keeps us in touch. Although it can easily be argued we've gone too far in this department (see the article to the right), cell phones, Blackberries, and even online forums (blogs, Facebook, MySpace) have enabled us to find and stay in touch with more people more frequently.

  4. It saves us time and money. Nothing has done more for the consumer than the Internet. In minutes, you can search on and compare various products and services without having to make a single phone call or (even better) getting in your car to drive about looking for what you want. Plus, you can order just about anything online and have it shipped to your door. Amazing!

  5. It's a great scapegoat for any number of mistakes you've made. Missed an appointment? Blame your system being down. Don't want to talk to someone? Use the old, "I have no bars in this area," excuse. Overlooked an important client's request? Just tell them you never got the e-mail!
