Should I use a Flash (animated) Introduction or an Enter Page?
The answer is: It depends on what type of business you have and what your goal is.
So what do I mean by an enter page? - Have ever been to a site where the home page is a logo, some graphics and a link that says enter? If this page is animated (has words and photos that move around on the screen) it's usually created in a software program called Flash.
When should you use this technique? - We use flash introductions when our clients' website goal is primarily to brand the business image or provide company information. Frequently, we use flash introductions on attorney websites.
When should I avoid this technique? - We never use flash introductions when our clients' goal is to sell a product. On e-commerce sites any time you create even one extra click to make a purchase you take a risk that the visitor will be frustrated and buy from another website.
In most cases, we would recommend that you avoid using an enter page or a flash introduction page. The cons usually out weigh the pros.
