Shiny New Gadget Of The Month
Snagit- ByTechSmith
This month's pick is not really a gadget. It's a cool, inexpensive software program you'll easily get addicted to. Snagit is an easy to use screen capture software that allows you to copy, edit, share and organize images captured off of your computer screen. The more you use Snagit, the more ways you'll find to use it.
For example, if you are working with a designer or programmer to develop a web application or website, Snagit will allow you to capture a screen shot of the web page and add comments, cut and paste sections, add instructions, edit the design, and much more, making your communication much more precise and clear.
Creating a user guide or instruction manual? You'll love Snagit because you can capture segments of a computer screen and add comments and instructions right over the area (or document) you are explaining, making even the most complicated processes and software easy to follow.
Best of all, you can store these images in various image files (jpeg, png, gif, etc.) and cut and paste them into an e-mail, Word document, website, etc. Snagit costs $49.95 for a single user license and can be purchased at www.techsmith.com. If you want to try before you buy, you can download a 30-day free trial at the above website as well.

Client Profile
-Oak Leaf Manor

Oak Leaf Manor is a personal care and retirement living facility. Over the years, they saw more and more residents needing Alzheimer's care. In December of 2009, they relocated their Memory Care to a new two story wing at their Landisville location. They are currently expanding the Memory Care at their Millersville location.
Lynette Trout is President of Oak Leaf Manor -Here's her story:
"There are very few Personal Care facilities that offer secured memory-support for those with dementia or Alzheimer's.
In addition to marketing our product, though, Oak Leaf Manor also wanted to offer assistance to families in the early stages of dealing with the disease by creating a website,
www.copewithalzheimers.com
to address their questions and provide them with more useful information.
Since we knew that doing this project right would mean getting some outside expertise, we hired a local web development company who had been recommended to us. Unfortunately, the project seemed to take much longer than expected, and eventually much of the work ended up on my desk for completion.
While I was hesitant to work with another web development company after this experience, I found working with EZSolution to be completely different.
Tom took the time to discuss ways of organizing the content for my site in ways that make visitors able to find the information they need. They had our site up and running in under 30 days!
I highly recommend EZSolution to anyone looking to build a website."

The Biggest Threat To Your Company's
Critical, Confidential Data Revealed
If you ask most business owners what the biggest threat to their company's network and data is, they might say, "viruses, hackers and cyber criminals,"or perhaps "faulty hardware, software and system failures". But research is showing a much different reality.
According to a recent study published by Computer Economics (a research and metrics company for IT managers), it was revealed that employee sabotage -whether it be for financial gain, retribution or some other motivation -accounts for a bigger threat than viruses, hackers, hardware failures and natural disasters.
With so much critical data and operations tied up in a company's network, internal sabotage from employees becomes an even greater risk. In a matter of minutes, an employee can delete software or erase years of data vital to a company. They can purposefully download viruses or attempt to tarnish their employer's reputation by posting pornography on their company's website or spamming all clients with racist, hateful and slanderous e-mails. Or they can simply download client lists and other confidential information and sell it to competitors, post it online or use it to start a competitive business.
What are the reasons why they do this? The biggest one given is simply "job dissatisfaction."Another contributing factor seems to be the recent downturn in the economy. Cutbacks, layoffs and fewer raises have given rise to employees stealing data, equipment or money.
For example, a law firm recently discovered their internal IT person was purchasing computer equipment on the company's credit card and reselling it on eBay. He had embezzled over $40,000 before the company caught up to what he was doing.
Another company suspected that one of their employees was stealing and suspended them from work until a further investigation could be conducted. When the employee caught wind of what was happening, the employee deleted over a year's worth of company e-mails -all containing important client records and history -in an effort to cover his tracks. Fortunately this company had a solid backup system in place and was able to immediately recover all the data within a few hours.
To protect yourself, we strongly recommend you have an offsite backup of your data in place. Call Jeff at 717-291-0370 to talk about offsite back up.
