Have you considered backup and disaster recovery?
From Jeff Weaver
We all know that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Yet, thinking about data safety often takes a distant second to the daily deadlines and pressures of running a business.
That means that most businesses, including your own, may end up offline and without your data after a simple lightning storm.
If a fire started in your building, the parts that weren't burned beyond recovery would probably have water damage. But even more common is software corruption, hardware failures and human error!
A backup and disaster recovery plan doesn't have to be complicated, time-consuming or expensive.
Here are a few simple questions to ask:
- Do you back up your company's data daily to both an onsite and offsite location?
- Are you absolutely certain that your backup copy is valid, complete and not corrupt? How do you know for sure?
- If disaster strikes, HOW would you get your data back, and how long would it take? In many cases it takes days and often weeks; what would you do during that period of time?
More alarming is the statistic that 80% of companies that experience a data loss event go out of business within a year.
Our new EZSolution Backup and Recovery system does away with tape forever. It allows for off site backup without carrying tapes home.
The EZSolution Backup and Recovery system has innovative features like:
- Onsite Backup Solution
- NAS Appliance with virtualization technology - can simulate a down server
- Offsite Backup Solution and Disaster Recovery, at our Data Center
- Complete Image with Incremental Block Level Backup
- Multiple points in time backup

The benefits of the EZSolution Backup and Recovery system are:
- Block level incremental backups
- Unattended, automatic backups, every day, all day, every 15 minutes
- Offsite backup for site wide disaster recovery
- Bare metal recovery to dissimilar hardware
- Virtualization allows the backup device to function as a server while you get your server repaired or replaced.

How do you come up on the first page of Google organic rankings?
by Tom Malesic
I get this question everyday. Years ago, it was really easy to get your business to come up on the first page of Google.
10 years ago, all we needed to do was create lots of pages loaded with the keywords that you wanted to place on.
6 years ago, all we needed to do was create lots of pages loaded with the keywords that you wanted to place on. We would then show Google our page and show the web visitor your website.
As the internet grew it got harder and harder to get your business top placement. Your keyword competition could have gone from 150,000 to 3,000,000 over a 5 year period of time. It wasn't only the competition that made it hard, Google came onto the scene in a big way with their algorithm involving a new concept called PageRank.
What is PageRank?
This is Google's way of determining how important your website is. Here's the concept. If lots of websites link to your website, you must be important. If important websites link to your website you must be Really Important!
Over the last 3 years, we have tried many strategies to get businesses top placement on competitive keywords. We have even outsourced this service to another vendor. I know this goes against my control freak nature. It also was a very expensive service to promote.
It has taken some time, but we have now created a cost effective way to get you the top placement you are looking for.
How do we do it?
It's complicated (no kidding) but here is the simple version.
We help select the keywords that make the fit to your business.
We evaluate your site against your competition for the keywords.
We make sure you have enough content on your site for the selected keywords.
We optimize your site for the selected keywords.
We build back links to your site. It is all about building back links to your site so that Google knows you're important. We start the first month by establishing 30 new high page ranked sites as back links to your site. Then we take these back links and create an RSS feed.
We then send the RSS to high page ranked blogs. This drastically magnifies the power of the back links. We repeat this every month. We also do a similar trick with news articles from your site.
We give you a monthly report to show you where you place per keyword.
How long does it take?
For many of you, the keywords that you want to place on have local component to them. Here are some examples:
Security Systems PA - our client Trinitysecurity.net is ranked #4 (36,100,000 competitors)
Web Development PA - ezsolution.com is ranked # 2 (40,300,000 competitors)
Computer Networking Lancaster - ezsolution.com is ranked #1 (476,000 competitors)
Corn Maze PA - our client cherrycrestfarm.com is ranked #1 (134,000 competitors)
You get the idea! Put a town name or state with the keyword to make it localized. These words take less time to get. We have seen placement in a month or less.
Words that are not localized may take longer. Here are some examples:
skoal - our client genuinetobacco.com is #2 (70,000 competitors)
contract packaging - our client schafco.com is #7 (79,800,000 competitors)
These words can take longer, around 1-3 months.
What does it cost?
Localized 10 keywords: $500 setup and $199/month
National 10 keywords: $1995 setup and $499/month
We have programs for more keywords as well. Please contact me to discuss how we can get your business top placement.
Getting to Know... Marie Sonder

One of the things that make your EZSolution designed web site special is the captivating visual design of each site. In our office we have color prints of many of our sites lining the walls. Customers always remark on the diversity of design.
One of our two designers is Marie Sonder, who joined the EZSolution Staff in 2007. Marie has an Associate's Degree in Visual Communication. Prior to coming to EZSolution, Marie did freelance work and was looking forward to finding work in the print field. Instead, she found the web.
A quick learner, she easily adapted to designing for the web and enjoys the challenges it brings. Currently, Marie creates eye-catching conceptual designs and develops code for client websites.
As Marie says "it is easy to wake up every day and go to a job that you love what you do. My original thoughts after design school were to go into Print Design, but found web to present more opportunities. Having a job that uses my creativity every day allows me to continue the 'artistic' side of me, which so many people loose after time and added responsibilities."
Marie is married to Terry, and they have a 3 year old daughter with another child on the way... a boy this time. No name has been chosen, but her daughter Alicia keeps asking "is it still in there, Mommy" as she points to Marie's belly. Alicia sounds like she will be a big help!
Marie loves her job and thinks EZSolution is a fun place to work, and Tom is a great boss.
Thanks, Marie, for keeping us all young!
Website Testimonial
We have been using EZSolution since 2008. We like the graphic design of the site, and the functionality has been superb.
They developed a document storage section for us where we are now saving all of our minutes, treasurer's reports and other documents, which is finally eliminating the need for decades worth of ring binders.
What we really like is their responsiveness. They are always quick to act on any requests we have, and have been able to accommodate every new idea that has come from one of our committees. Our board and committees have all been extremely pleased, which has made my role as chair of our chapter communications committee much easier.

IT Challenge
On October 22, 2009 Windows 7 officially arrives.
EZSolution will support and recommend this new operating system 100%. We have installed it on our own machines and are "lovin it."
It is everything that Vista should have been. We have not recommended Vista to any of our customers in the last 4 years. The new Windows 7 is fast and easy to use. Microsoft did a through testing of hardware and drivers before release.
For years we have clung to our XP. Now we will need to move away from XP. Microsoft created a problem for itself with Vista, prompting many users to stick with Windows XP. People have been using XP for eight years now, and regardless of how good Windows 7 might be, you might have a hard time leaving their security blanket behind.
Security Support Will Continue
It's true that Microsoft has discontinued mainstream support for XP, Microsoft and will continue to provide security patches and per-incident phone and Web support for XP. It will however no longer update XP to run with new hardware and software.
You live on the Web.
Perhaps the features and applications an OS has to offer you are irrelevant. Maybe everything you do is in Firefox or Chrome and you could care less about Aero, the Improved Taskbar, Jump Lists, Snaps, Gadgets, Libraries and Home Groups. If your computing experience consists of Google Apps, Hulu, YouTube, Facebook and Gmail, you just might not care all that much about what OS is underneath it all. That may be true today, but we can count on the web developers taking advantage of IE and it's connection to Windows 7.
Microsoft's latest security features are freely available to download for XP...but
IE8, Windows Defender, and Windows Security Essentials (currently in beta) are applications that help make Windows 7 secure. Security has become a priority for Microsoft, and it has made these apps freely available to XP users. However, Windows 7 will be Microsoft's most secure OS to date.
You've got your computer set up just the way you like it.
Unfortunately, Microsoft was a little shortsighted when it omitted a direct path for XP users to upgrade to Windows 7. If your computer is a finely tuned machine with all your apps and settings just right, it can be highly disruptive to have to install and configure everything from scratch. There is a program that Microsoft thoughtfully developed called Easy-Transfer to take you and all your docs, favorite and pictures into Windows 7.
Your next computer will include Windows 7.
In a year or so, you're going to replace your computer, and it will come with Windows 7. The majority of XP machines we now see are in the 4 to 5 year old range, you will need to consider and upgrade to the hardware, Windows 7 makes that more appealing.
If you have questions about Windows 7, give us a call. We will be glad to talk to you about it.
Referral Program
We will pay you $25 for any one that you refer to us that we get an appointment with.
When your referral becomes a client (and has spent $1000 or more) then we will pay you $50 more. And, we will give your referral $100 off their purchase.
